DESCRIPTION:Imagine the courtroom has a donation bucket\, and no matter if
you represent the prosecution or the defense\, your donation is part of the
judge's consideration when determining the outcome of the case. The court
of law is no longer impartial\, no longer solely based on your hard work an
d the merit of your case. When judges are elected\, donations and endorseme
nts fuel the partisan\, political process. Suddenly\, a judge's independenc
e is questionable as now they have donors and supporters to please.\n\n \n\
nThankfully\, unlike many states that elect judges through partisan campaig
ns\, Colorado practices a merit-based selection process to appoint judges\,
and the Colorado Judicial Institute (CJI) is an organization that makes su
re it stays that way. But that system isn’t guaranteed to last without publ
ic understanding and support. Come learn more about our organization\, dire
ctly from our Young Professionals Committee. The presenters are Gabby Robbi
e\, Rachelle Jackson\, Daniel Jozwiak\, Kim Newton\, and Kellian Coggswell.
 \n\n \n\nPizza will be provided!
