President Trump has passed a slurry of executive orders over the past month that he has been in office, impacting several (if not all) areas of law. Join this panel, co-sponsored by the Byron R. White Center, Getches-Wilkinson Center, and American Constitution Society, to talk about each of the executive orders, how they compare to those in previous administrations, and the extent of the orders’ legal impact. We want to discuss what these executive orders actually do and the role of the courts now. This panel will feature Professors White, Gulasekaram, and Roithmayr, who will come with a few of the orders that are relevant to their field of study/interesting to point out to students and then talk through their legal/constitutional impacts and what the courts can do about it now. Although it is a politically charged topic, we will be keeping it focused on the law and so drawing to previous administrations' executive orders and what the courts have done with them in the past as a helpful point of reference. Please come with questions, and lunch will be provided, but PLEASE REGISTER here for headcount for the food.
