The Honorable Roopali H. Desai of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit will join the Colorado Law community on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at 5:00-6:30pm to deliver the 14th Annual John Paul Stevens Lecture. In conversation with Professor Deep Gulasekaram, Director of the Byron White Center, Judge Desai will discuss the legal landscape of the right to vote. On the occasion of the Voting Rights Act's 60th birthday, the lecture will focus on the role state and federal governments and our three-branch system play in protecting free and fair elections in the United States.

In Person Attendance

Advanced registration is required to attend in person - walkups will be directed to register and present photo ID. There is a no bag policy and all attendees will be required to pass through metal detectors to enter the courtroom.

Please carefully read the security protocol below to ensure smooth entry on event day:

  • Security screening will begin at 4:15PM. 
  • Student/Staff/Faculty ID or Driver’s License is required for entry.
  • No Bags/Backpacks
  • No Weapons (i.e. firearms, knives, brass knuckles, etc.)
  • No Signs/Posters
  • No Food (Bottled water is okay)
  • Attendees are allowed to bring electronic devices, such as laptops, phones and iPads, for taking notes
  • Attendees are not allowed to take photos or recordings of the event

  • Use promo code SL470 to waive the parking fee for lot 470.
