About this Event
Presented by the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative Collegiate Program at Colorado Law and Silicon Flatirons, the October 29th session offers a front row seat to investigate some of the most famous (and infamous) ethical dramas and scandals in recent years in the tech and startup world. Join in the conversation with highly acclaimed Vanity Fair special correspondent Nick Bilton (author of books including American Kingpin and Hatching Twitter) as we explore a myriad of ethical issues inherent to emerging technologies, entrepreneurship, and startup culture. While exciting new technologies and services can enhance our lives and improve society, they also often raise complicated moral questions concerning values such as honesty, fairness, transparency, lawfulness, loyalty, and accountability. Through numerous “truth-is-stranger-than-fiction” stories from his research and reporting, Nick will share key observations and perspectives on the tensions between ethics and novel technologies.
Following the conversation with Nick, we’ll continue the discussion with local experts from relevant sectors including venture capital, social media platform engineering, and the startup community. Each will offer their own unique perspective on the themes raised in Nick’s works.
The Silicon Flatirons Center for Law, Technology, and Entrepreneurship is an interdisciplinary research center at the University of Colorado Law School.
